Robert (Bob) Pennock, Founding Member and our 1st President

Bob Pennock.png

Bob was born and raised in the west end of Toronto, in the Dovercourt and Bloor area.

His parents built a cottage on Sturgeon Lake in Fenelon Falls. There, Bob met his "sweetheart", Lorraine, to whom he was happily married for 58 years. Sadly, Alzheimer’s disease took her from him in 2014.

Bob's family home was in Etobicoke, at Islington and the 401 where they raised his son and two daughters. They have been blessed with seven grandchildren, who are extremely active --- keeping him busy traveling to attend wrestling, cheer-leading, hockey, ballet etc.

Bob's career path has led him from the Insurance Industry, as an Adjuster, to a Marketing career with Campbell Soup, Eagle Pencil, and Hohner Canada. The entrepreneurial spirit engulfed him and he started an Insurance Restoration Company - this by a guy who cannot even drive a nail straight!

Bob's love for our great country, Canada, led him to his final career opportunity. In 1984, he ran for, and was elected the Member of Parliament for the riding of Etobicoke North.

Following retirement Bob spent the next 15 years working on the National Parole Board, Ontario Parole Board and finally the CPP Tribunal.

While living in Toronto, Bob was an active member of the Drum Corps unit of Rameses Shriners. His hobbies include traveling, playing cards, fishing, golf, and attending the Opera, Ballet, and Theatre. His main passion though is music. At the tender age of 8, Bob learned to play the trumpet. Over the next thirty years, he played in dance bands, concert bands and symphony orchestras.

After a hiatus of almost forty years, Bob returned to the trumpet two years ago - playing in Peterborough with the New Horizon Concert Band.

Bob was the visionary that brought the PROBUS CLUB to Fenelon Falls.
