Kathy spent most of her working career as a Purchasing/Materials Manager in the Durham Region.

 

Her passion, however, was working with animals and in the evenings she spent her time working with a Dog Trainer at a local training facility. She stayed with her mentor for 3 years, became a member of the C.A.P.P.D.T. (Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers), and started offering private lessons.

 

Being an avid photographer she opened her own studio in Durham and started ‘Pet Proud Portraits’, taking pet portraits years before it became trendy.    

 

Both the dog training and the photography were done part time.

 

In 1993 Kathy and her husband decided it was time for a change, left their jobs and came to Fenelon Falls.

 

Kathy’s family had been cottaging in the area since 1960. She opened ‘Kathy’s Pet Foods’ and provided the area with pet foods, accessories, dog training and dog grooming. She joined St. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs division with her dog and did visits to local Seniors buildings and aided in therapy dog evaluations for St. Johns.

 

After 20 years Kathy sold the business and retired.

 

She feels so fortunate that she was able to spend 20 years of her life making a living doing something she loves.

 

Now she is so looking forward to all that PROBUS has to offer.
